This August, CaixaForum Macaya is organizing guided tours of its headquarters, Casa Macaya (1898), an architectural jewel by the architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch, with sculptural works by his regular collaborators Eusebi Arnau and Alfons Juyol. A tour of the two façades, the entrance, the courtyard, the staircase, the old coach houses and the noble room, where the history of the uses of this building on Passeig de Sant Joan is also explained. Visits are available in Catalan, Spanish and English.
The Macaya House is part of the association Art Nouveau European Route.

Casa Batlló (1904-1906), by Antoni Gaudí, has begun the first comprehensive restoration of the building's rear façade and its courtyard, the private garden of the Batlló family.

Gaudí conceived the rear façade as a vertical garden. It symbolises a flowering plant that climbs from both sides to meet at the top with an explosion of Mediterranean flowers, represented using the trencadís technique.

With this restoration, Casa Batlló will recover the original splendour of its materials, including ceramic and glass brittle, wrought iron, wooden windows and stucco walls. Many elements of the balustrades and balconies will also be restored to their original state and other missing elements will be reproduced.

Casa Batlló has promoted different initiatives to immerse visitors in this restoration and raise international awareness of it.
