A Liberty & Co. Cymric silver and yellow green enamel box, possibly a biscuit box. The lid is double hinged and inset with blister pearls. Hallmarked Birmingham 1900, the design is attributed to Archibald Knox. This is one of only two known enamelled pieces of this design, the other being in the Victoria and Albert Museum on display in the silver gallery. An exceptional example illustrating one of Knox´s earliest modernist Celtic designs.

The Archibald Knox Forum is a non-profit-making charity established in 2017, on the Isle of Man, where Archibald Knox (1864‐1933) was born. The charity's object is "the advancement of the education of the public, both in the Isle of Man and worldwide, in relation to the work and legacy of Archibald Knox", the Manx artist and designer, who was born and died on the Isle of Man.

Knox became the top designer for metalwork and jewellery at London's Liberty & Co. Not only did his work span Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau, Celtic Revival and Modernism, but some of his turn-of-the-century designs could be said to point to Art Deco.

The website at archibaldknoxforum.com holds copious information on Knox, including over 2,000 images on his work, life and legacy. The Archibald Knox Forum posts an example of his work every day on the Facebook pages The Archibald Knox Forum and Art Nouveau/Jugendstil Decorative Arts, as well as on its Instagram page @thearchibaldknoxforum.

From April 2025 to April 2026 the most comprehensive Knox exhibition and event ever held in the world will take place on the Isle of Man, including 175 exhibits, films, lectures and visits to the newly launched Knox Trail.

This is a chance for the world to see his work and discover what it is about the Isle of Man's history, culture, spirituality and scenery that motivated and inspired this top designer and artist.
